John V. Folsom was a local soldier who served during WWI.  While serving in Company L, 361st Infantry, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for "extraordinary heroism".  Private Folsom was KIA on October 10, 1918 and buried beside his comrades-in-arms at Romagne, France.  We Honor his distinguished service to our country.

 LEGION RIDERS CHAPTER FORMED AT POST 54

 At our Tuesday, 9/17/13 Regular Meeting, a group presented a request to be allowed to start a Legion Riders chapter at our Post.  A vote by members attending this meeting was unanomous to allow this group to organize at Post 54.  All of the necessary paperwork to organize will be prepared to make this official.  1st Vice, Hal Leedom was appointed to be their advisor.  Please welcome these new American Legion family member to our Post.  We believe they will be very active, as the "Riders" are known for making things happen in the community, state & nationally.

American Legion John V. Folsom Post 54, Department of  Washington.   We are located at   111 S. Park Street (Hwy     395),     Chewelah, WA.  Although we are an American Legion Post, we are pleased to    also host other local Veteran organization under our roof.

 

Post 54 American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion currently has about 2.6 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide. These posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

The Department of Washington headquartered in Lacey is home to all state wide administrative and leadership functions.
